While discussing this on a different group, wanted to share here too :
One of them was a duet with Geeta & Hemant ( a very good quality photo of
which, is uploaded by me for you and other fans, here :
http://picasaweb.google.com/kcpingle/Mypics#5295573489417792562 ) and the
other was a trio with Geeta, Asha & Shamshad.
The title of the second song was "Sooni Hai Sajariya". Shailendra and Jaidev
were there for the recording and they said that ""RDB had captured the
atmosphere so well. They were reminded of the famous Chandni Chowk of
Lucknow, the home of dance and play.
RDB says in an interview in 1970-71 in "Madhuri" ( I have that interview )
that out of the 2 songs, he used one of the tunes in Chhote Nawab and the
second one he still has it ( written by Shailendra ) and he will use it for
a movie, which deserves that tune.
Then we have Raju Bharatan, who said that RDB composed one song for Raaz ,
based on the Theme of Limelight, only because Guru Dutt wanted him to do so.
RDB was ridiculed by the colleagues ( musicians ? ) when he was got caught.
The second song, however was essentially an original tune by RDB. ( I have
got this RB interview somewhere )
Also many claim that "this Limelight" is nothing but the beauty, re-used in
Bombay To Goa - Tum Meri Zindagi Mein
So my conclusion is the following :
1) Sooni Hai Sajariya, finally made it into Chhote Nawab - but in Lata's
voice.
2) The Geeta-Hemant duet was then sung by Kishore-Lata ( lyrics changed and
written by RK )
